I completely agree about everything you said about social media and Tik Tok and I hate that I’m so into Tik Tok as well spending way too much time on it! It’s so overwhelming to realize how much social media is crucial now for any “anonymous“ artist and you have all my sympathy empathy and support. You can be so proud of what you have accomplished so far even though I imagine things didn’t always happen as you dreamed it would. You are growing and learning so much unfortunately there has been a lot of pain and hearing you talk about it made me tear up but I’m sure you have so many beautiful things ahead of you and that your future will be brighter and that you will end up happy and satisfied with your life one day. You seem incredibly smart and more then capable and you definitely have talent! Your music is as heartwarmingly moving and poignant as you are and everything you say is so interesting and well thought. I can also relate to being alone alot and I understand your fear of trusting and making new friends. Thank you for the great video. I have been to Mykonos over 25 times and Santorini 2 times. You are right they are very different. I feel they both used to be a lot better especially Mykonos which I remembered it as a jetsetting island before all the cruise ships started overrunning it during the summer and it became more mainstream touristic. It used to be kind of the St Barts of the Eastern Mediterranean. It still can be a beautiful place to visit especially a little off season ( May-June and then September) Mykonos is a no go in August since it is crazy. In fact I would not recommend either island during high season. You are right in Mykonos you can spend more time and relax, I felt in Santorini 2-3 nights max are more than enough. After that, I would get bored. Other islands I really love are Crete of course although very different to these two islands of this video, very large island and you definitely need a car. Melos, Folegandros, Rhodes ( again I would avoid the really high season July-August in order to have the best experience.

Regarding the metros being full, many lines got extended and many people moved to the suburbs but the train size didn’t increase. Alfortville for example has been finishing up on loads of new builds, which just means loads of people getting on line 8 and staying on longer. The majority of the population lives in ile de france and commutes, so they will be effected the most.

You can’t use the Notre dame as an example of inefficiency. It’s an old structure, and part of it will open in Nov, and the spire is up.. you can’t say nothing is done. The metro. I guess party becos of the olympics, it’s vastly improved, new trains and tourist can use the navigo stored value instead of paper. Becos of the olympics, potholes, roads, champ élysées etc are cleaned up.

People were quite concerned about London's ability to host (me included) and we ended up smashing it. Would definitely agree though that accommodation is a huge issue, and London is *vastly* easier to get housing in than Paris. We didn't get any tickets, but are considering going across for the road rice and time trials. I'm sure it'll be a major annoyance to locals like you but hope you can enjoy the Olympic spirit!

as someone that lives in the southern banlieue of Paris, I swear the transit is bad because they are behind on renovations and aren't budgeting well (it really can't be all because of inflation, I know a lot of these budgets were set even before the pandemic, but come on, lol), also, after listening to a bus driver in Versailles complain about having to work through lunch and not being able to afford a sandwich at the train station because it was too expensive for his salary and how his schedule was shit, lol, I mean these are the things I'd complain about when I was working minimum wage in the US where there isn't as many workers rights as in France, I really think the transit companies are having a really hard time finding drivers and not paying the ones they do have well enough Oh, to comment on the accommodation problems, well, their are gonna be out here in the banlieue with us peasants, hahhahahaha, because the rooms will be cheaper, they'll look for cheap hotels just outside Paris proper where it will still be "easy" to get into the city, which will make the RER HELL for those of us that live here.

I love hearing someone who very often says "I don't know why" and sounds completely clueless, say with such assurance that Paris isn't ready. There's so much Olympics-bashing by people who don't even bother to read the news or inform themselves. Thousands of people are working on making this event a success. Obviously there will be issues, but when I see how countries like Brazil in 2008 managed despite the massive corruption, I'm positive France will do just fine ;) Stop the useless bashing. Also it's an event that'll barely last 3 weeks. It really isn't a big deal.

I'll say women are only sexualized on social media. I can't even count on one hand women on social media that actually have viable content. All it is 99.9% of wearing makeup and using filters to luring men and get women who want to be as beautiful as them. You can tell because the women who make the same content as men but are not attractive, don't have the same followers as someone pretty doing the same or less. We need to honest about the situation and things will be better.

So, while I agree that TikTok is one of the worst possible things to have ever occurred to the US and how toxic it is to our society, I can't get behind this ban. The fact that the House unanimously passed it was startling, and made me look into it deeper, because it means there's something they all want in there that we're not seeing. From what I've managed to find, it's looking like a similar situation to the whole "Border control" bill that they posed as a bill to send money to secure our border, yet sent only $20 billion to the border, and another $80 billion to other countries (~$60-65 to Ukraine, and ~$15-20 to Israel). There's a lot of side stuff, and one such thing is that it appears to give the government the power to immediately shut down any site or app they deem "problematic" or "spreads misinformation". It's a Trojan Horse bill that'll give the government an unbelievable amount of censorship power, with no repercussions if it's even halfway to what I've seen it contains. That's a huge step into the dictatorship socialist style government that will be almost impossible to step back from peacefully, and a harsh attack on our freedoms, especially freedom of speech. Does it sound like a good idea for our government to determine what is "right" for us to see? Not to me. Do I think TikTok should be accessible, especially while in it's current state? No, absolutely not. If the bill were entirely focused on blocking any outside countries owning the apps we have access to (they would have to divest and sell that portion of access to the USA, so it's US run companies), and nothing else, then I think we can start talking about it, but there's stuff hidden in there they don't want us to see, stuff that truly scares me if we allow our government to have that much power. The problem then, even if they strike those portions out, it's still going to be a huge step towards setting a precedent on the government giving itself censorship powers. Society does need help, but the most terrifying words in the world are "I'm from the government and I'm here to help". The government is important, but giving them more and more power has never been a good thing, and this bill will give a tremendous amount of it. I think the biggest step is that the younger generation of parents needs to start taking a more involved role in their kid's lives, especially on limiting access to any sort of electronics and internet, especially free access to social media (supervise what your kids are watching or who they're following). I'm lucky that I grew up in the 90's, and I didn't have my first "Smart" phone until I was already 17-18, and honestly, I didn't want one at first. I had a flip phone until then, it did everything I needed and wanted, and my parents were strict at limiting my access to internet. They didn't ban it, I could play some games growing up, but would limit amount of time, or what sites I had access to, especially while I was younger. I'll eventually have children, and when I do, they will have very limited, supervised access to internet sites and smart devices. It might seem strict, but it's to help them grow and mature, then when they're growing older, start letting them have slightly more access. There's so many younger parents that seem scared to take a strict stance like that, because they want their kids to like them. You can be friendly with your kids, but you're parents first, and part of that is making the hard choices that your kid might not like, but will help them grow up to be more mature and wise, and when they grow up, they'll be more appreciative of you, and consider themselves lucky to have you as a parent. So, overall, I hate TikTok, and don't think it should exist, especially for our youth, but the way this ban is being handled is not the way to do it. We need to work on ourselves first, and approach things with a healthier mindset first, and part of that is having parents be adults and raising the next generations with that sort of healthily cautious mindset towards internet and social media. Now, perhaps I'm wrong. Perhaps I'm overreaching or some of what I found is wrong. I won't deny it's a possibility, and in such a case, then I'll review my thoughts on it, but I've not seen people really looking deeply into the bill, and after the last few years, I've really lost trust in the government to be honest with us about it's intentions. It's just the fact that they voted so quickly and in a unanimous fashion, I can't find it in me to trust it.

My therapist thinks that the issue with short-form content is brain chemicals, dopamine. Every post is a potential hit from the dopamine factory. Kinda like Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, etc., are drug dealers, but the drug they deal is created by its users. Also, I'm not sure how many people posting on Tik Tok are there trying to "break through" or whatever. I'm pretty sure most of them are there to get the attention that their parents didn't give them - or currently aren't giving them, in many cases.

I don't completely disagree with you. I will say I'm not for the government telling anyone what to do, to this extent. This word has lost it's meaning at this point but I do see it as an overreach. I also think they are full of it and it has nothing to do with China, I think is money and control driven. Although you did make a good point that it could be better for society without it but so would less drugs being prescribed to minors, more attention to mental health, less time stuck in a class room etc. I've never had a tiktok account, I'm also 34 so I grew up without all of this stuff so I may see it differently. Ultimately, I think tiktok or any other social media is a choice, this choice should be left to the parents of these 5 year olds and teens mindlessly scrolling. there are so many Americans that have found financial security, their small business have taken off, they could find that reach, also people talk and it gets around quickly on social media. The government doesn't like that. So much more to say but this was already probably a mess to read haha ♥♥
